13 Years of Social Media Research

JSMS was created to fit a unique need — a home for scholarship about social media when that was hard to find. We believe the journal served its purpose successfully. When the journal began, it was difficult to find journals willing to consider pieces about Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms. Now, journals have become receptive to works related to social media as a part of our communication schema in society.

And so, the editorial team has decided to shutter the journal. We created this blog to permanently host research published in the journal. You can access all of the articles here and we have organized by issue in the previous posts on this site. For those working on T&P packets, the journal maintained a 25% acceptance rate and its impact score was a 1.0.

We want to thank you for your support of the JSMS over the past 13 years. To our reviewers, we would not have made it without you. It’s your selfless service that keeps the journal system working. We are especially thankful to our founding reviewers who have been with us since the beginning! To our authors, thank you for trusting us with your manuscripts. Your contributions have pushed social media research forward.

On behalf of the editorial team,

-Sarah
